Review: Healing, Hope & Wholeness by Ceci Frost

Amazon Synopsis:
Healing, Hope & Wholeness is a mix between a memoir and biography. It is Ceci’s journey of finding restoration through music, travel, and community after the loss of her sweet mother. Ceci walks you through her mom’s up-and-down battle with cancer, the discovery of her birth dad and half brother, the important role of songwriting, and how traveling across the world helped her find hope again.

Lauren’s Review:
Healing, Hope & Wholeness by Ceci Frost is an absolutely heart wrenching memoir/biography about losing someone very close to you and how to cope with the grief that accompanies it. Many tears were shed over this book and for good reason. Not only is it tear inducing, it's also uplifting and inspirational. Healing, Hope & Wholeness is about friends, family, life, and above all, love of every kind.

"Her heart was strong, but her beat was tired."- Ceci takes you on her emotional journey, from beginning to now. It was the brutal honesty that struck me about this book, there is no mincing of words from this author, she says what she means and means what she says.

Certain parts of the book, Ceci will introduce with lyrics she has written that give you even more insight into her grief and how she deals with it. “That was me: raw, open, and vulnerable. These were the words that so easily spilled out of my mouth. These were the feelings that were tugging at my core.” This was a particularly important part of the book to me, sharing your inner most thoughts and feelings in order to help explain to others how to deal with grief is one thing, but once I saw the inclusion of the lyrics, I felt as though Ceci was giving all she had to her readers.

Healing, Hope & Wholeness takes us along on every part of the journey, including Ceci's spiritual one. I won't tell a lie, I usually find myself quite uncomfortable with religion but the feeling of inclusion that I got from reading Ceci's words was overwhelming and beautiful and to me, simply added another layer of depth to this book.

I would strongly urge everyone to read Healing, Hope & Wholeness, you don't have to have lost someone close to you to understand the pain, as Ceci's writing helps you to do just that. But if you have lost someone close, I urge you even more to read it. It is brutal, it will make you cry, but it will also leave you with something that you didn't have before delving into its depths.

I would give this book 5/5 stars.
