The YA Chronicles - Rebel with a Cause

When the lovely ladies behind The YA Chronicles contacted me about reviewing their Feb box "Rebel with a Cause" I couldn't say no, especially when they wrote "as we think it's something you'll really love"... Well, that was me sold. And did they disappoint? No. This box was magical.

For those of you who don't know The YA Chronicles is a Young Adult subscription service run from Sydney, Australia by two book loving bloggers. Each box contains one paperback YA book (embossed with The YA Chronicles logo), a YA Chronicles bookmark, 2-5 bookish items, and usually some book swag. The boxes are $29.99 AUD + shipping.

Now, what was in the box?

The first item in the box was this Dauntless Cake lip balm from From the Page (a business that I always mean to buy from because seriously, their stuff is adorable) -- Obviously for our much adored heroine Tris from Divergent. This lip balm smells like heaven and makes your lips so incredibly soft, but it also makes you want cake... like, all the time... and is that a bad thing?

Next up was this awesomely grungy print by Behind the Pages for Katniss Everdeen, the girl on fire! Personally, I'm not a big fan of receiving prints in subscription boxes if they have to be rolled, I have had a couple and they always end up torn or bent by the book. This one was just survived the trip (it was no longer a rolled tube, but a flattened rolled tube), but I'll just pop it under some very heavy books and hope it comes back to me because hOW COOL IS IT?! I absolutely love this print and cant wait to put it up in my office!

The Lunar Rebellion Tea... Let me repeat that for you in case you didn't read it right... THE LUNAR REBELLION TEA by Literary Tea Company, this item is so cool! It made me feel like it would fuel me enough to win any battle against Queen Levana, I could definitely take her down after a cup of this! It smells like heaven and while I'm not a big drinker or tea that isn't simple Twinings English Breakfast, I will be giving this beauty a go. I need everything and anything Lunar Chronicles themed lately, those books made me so happy! I need more!

Also in the box was something from one of my favourite Aussie stores, The Sticker Alley! I adore their magnetic bookmarks so when I heard that an item from their store would be included in the Feb box I jumped for joy! These stickers, based on Sarah J Maas' Throne of Glass series are so cute, but let's face it, I'll probably never use them, they're too darn adorable!

I'll admit, when I found out that The YA Chronicles had started shipping and I knew I was getting one, I rushed to their tag on Instagram to see what was inside. I know, I know, that makes me a terrible person, who on Earth wants a subscription box spoiled for them?! Truth is, the girls made me so freaking excited for this box that I couldn't contain myself and when I saw which book was included I just about screamed. What a beauty.

The book included in the Feb YA Chronicles is Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton, I had seen this book floating around Bookstagram, so I knew it'd end up on my TBR, what I didn't realise is that we seemed to have gotten the book before it's release date which was incredibly cool!

"She’s more gunpowder than girl—and the fate of the desert lies in her hands.

Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mystical beasts still roam the wild and barren wastes, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinni still practice their magic. But there's nothing mystical or magical about Dustwalk, the dead-end town that Amani can't wait to escape from.

Destined to wind up "wed or dead," Amani’s counting on her sharpshooting skills to get her out of Dustwalk. When she meets Jin, a mysterious and devastatingly handsome foreigner, in a shooting contest, she figures he’s the perfect escape route. But in all her years spent dreaming of leaving home, she never imagined she'd gallop away on a mythical horse, fleeing the murderous Sultan's army, with a fugitive who's wanted for treason. And she'd never have predicted she'd fall in love with him...or that he'd help her unlock the powerful truth of who she really is."

I cannot wait to dive into this book!!

Also included was this pin based on the book and I could have sworn there was also a bookmark but I've either lost it and forgot to photograph it or it was never there and my mind is playing tricks on me. Either way, I was happy with the pin.

Feb's The YA Chronicles was so freaking amazing, I cannot even begin to explain how gratifying it is to love and understand every item. I belong to every fandom shared and will use each item, which is always the sign of a great box! March's theme is Made in Australia and comes with a signed AND personalised book by an Australian author. I missed out on a box because I decided I needed a nap and when I woke up they were sold out *cries a million tears*, how could I do that to myself!?

April's theme is 'Journal Junkie' which sounds interesting! I might just have to sign up for it because this box was so fantastic, and I'm sure I'll be crying when I see everyone unboxing their March boxes. Ah well.

I am definitely, 100% recommending that you sign up for this subscription service! Every box I've missed (I missed the December box and it was INSANE, there were even twinkly lights, you know those rad ones on the copper wire?) I've regretted. I've both paid for this subscription service (I received the Feb one for free) and got them to review but I have always honestly reviewed and I adore this box and the girls behind it! It's especially great if you're living in NZ or Australia, because we all know shipping costs hold us back.

I hope that after this write up you consider signing up for The YA Chronicles! I'll add their links down below so you can go and check them out for yourselves.
